Course Development Committee Communication  22nd June 2021

Hi All,

“With the busiest part on the golf season in Tara Glen now upon us, the Course Development Committee met last week to review the course presentation and set-up. The Committee were very positive about the work done over the Spring (new tees, hedge cutting, verti-draining of greens, sanding program etc). And feedback from members has been very positive on the course presentation, particularly the greens.
However, as we know, the course will come under severe pressure over the next two months and therefore we have a number of “asks” of golfers (young and not-so-young) when playing the course:
1. You MUST carry a sandbag with you on the course and you MUST use it to fill divots, not just on the fairway but also on tee boxes. Some tee boxes (particularly the 7th and 16th) tend to have lots of divots. So please fill then in.
2. If your ball ends up in a bunker, you can place within 6inches (not nearer the hole). Please enter the bunker at the lowest point and exit in the same direction. Please do NOT climb up the face of the bunker to exit. But as you do exit the bunker, please do your best to rake the bunker (personal rakes are available for sale in the Golf Shop) or “foot rake” the bunker as best you can. Please do not exit the bunker leaving big foot prints behind you.
3. The Greens are currently in excellent condition. Please therefore repair any pitch marks on the green.

As members of Tara Glen, we all have a responsibility to do our best to maintain the course in its best possible playing condition. Tim and Paul (together with the support of STP) have done excellent work over recent months to give us a well presented golf course. We need to do our part over the next few months to keep it that way.

Happy golfing.
